WWR is happy to report that Fredo has found his forever home and has a Westie sister!
Hello, everyone! This is Fredo. He is an active 10-year-old male Westie. He is named after a character in “The Godfather,” although he is not much of a gangster! Fredo was in a loving, stable home, but due to divorce and an upcoming move south, the couple thought it would be better to find him a new home.
Fredo is a typical boy Westie, interested in squirrels, going on sniffy walks, and hanging near his humans. He loves to sleep in the bed, but will also sleep under the bed if you prefer. He just wants to be close.
Fredo was diagnosed with diabetes just before joining WWR. His foster mom has made sure his insulin is at the right level. If you are not familiar with diabetes in dogs, it is much simpler than in humans. In part, this is due to the fact that dogs only eat what you give them so keeping them on a proper diet is very easy. It requires no special food and a very small insulin shot is given twice a day at meal times. Fredo often does not notice the shot because the needle is so thin. He can also have treats. Other than that, it is business as usual for Fredo. No additional vet visits are required. Because Fredo is a senior with diabetes, WWR would work with the adopting family by covering the cost of insulin and needles which is about an additional $45 dollars a month.
Fredo does like other small dogs, but would want to be in charge if there were one already in the house. Fredo would do best in a house where someone is home most of the time and would not mind walking a few blocks with him so he can smell what is going on. Would you consider giving this Westie boy a new home? If so, please send an email to adopt@wisconsinwestierescue.com and a volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. Please put "Westie Adoption" in the subject line.
